David Axelrod: Many Of Harris’ Old Positions Was Just What Her Consultants Told Her To Say

By Search The Right / August 30, 2024

During the broadcast of CNN News Night, David Axelrod  claimed that “a bunch” of policy positions Kamala Harris took during her previous primary run in 2020 were just what the consultants told her to say.

Axelrod praised how Harris answered the questions of her policy changes during her interview with Dana Bash, even though many commentators thought the interview was an overall disaster.

Axelrod continued:

“The reason she didn’t make it to 2020 was she was taking a bunch of positions that were the state of the art political advice that did not really reflect what she felt comfortable with and she did not seem connected to the words she was speaking.”

Later, he called Kamala Harris a “pragamatic progressive” and that the democrat party is shifting on its immigration stance.

“… I would take some solace in the fact that they have values and principles and that they’re not entirely transactional. And that is a distinction with the candidate she is running against.”

However, Axelrod’s reaction to the effect of the interview was neutral:

“I think, on the whole, this was a good night. I don’t think she moved the ball that much forward, but she certainly didn’t fall back.”
