The abortion numbers in the U.S. actually went up in the first three months of 2024 when compared to the time before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a study released Wednesday discovered, reflecting the lengths that Democratic-controlled states went to expand access.
Perhaps a major reason for the increase is that some Democratic-controlled states enacted laws to protect doctors who use telemedicine to treat patients in places with abortion bans, according to the quarterly Wecount report for the Society of Family Planning, which supports the killing of unborn babies.
This data comes prior to the November elections, in which supporters of abortion rights hope that the issue will push voters to go out and vote. Voters in some states will be able to reject or make legal state-level protections for abortion.

The #WeCount survey data collected every month since April 2022 shows how abortion providers and seekers have adapted to the changing laws.
In states that prohibit abortion at all stages of pregnancy (with some exceptions), the number of abortions dropped to almost zero. It also fell by half in those that banned it after six week of pregnancy – before most women knew they were pregnant. Fourteen states ban abortions at all stages, but with certain exceptions. Four others prohibit it after six weeks.
