Former president Donald Trump plans to sue Justice Department for damages of $100 million following the 2020 FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago Estate in Florida.
The FBI searched for classified documents related to the dismissed federal case against Trump that is currently under appeal.
In a memo obtained by NewsNation from Trump’s legal staff, the team claims that the United States engaged in “tortious behavior” by claiming the federal effort to be political persecution and unconstitutional.
Trump’s lawyer filed a lawsuit against the DOJ late last week. The government officials have 180 days in which to respond. In the event that they do not respond, the case will be brought before the federal court of the Southern District of Florida.
Steven Cheung explained that as the complaint clearly details, the raid at Mar-a-Lago is illegal and unconstitutional. As are all the Democrat witch-hunts, which are now crumbling like the rotten houses of cards they are.
The Department of Justice has not commented on the lawsuit.
